The Ultimate Waxing Aftercare Guide
Walking out of Al Safy Oasis with silky smooth skin feels amazing, but maintaining that result requires a little TLC. Proper aftercare prevents irritation, ingrown hairs, and ensures your results last as long as possible.
The First 24 Hours: The "Cool Down" Period
After waxing, your hair follicles are open and vulnerable. During this time:
- Avoid Heat: No hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, or sunbathing. Heat can irritate the skin and cause bacteria to breed in open follicles.
- Skip the Gym: Sweat can also clog pores and cause breakouts.
- Wear Loose Clothing: Tight jeans or leggings can rub against the treated area and cause friction burns or ingrown hairs.
Day 3 Onwards: Exfoliation is Key
The most common complaint after waxing is ingrown hairs. This happens when dead skin cells block the hair follicle, forcing the hair to grow sideways under the skin. To prevent this, start exfoliating gently 2-3 days after your appointment.
Use a gentle scrub or an exfoliating mitt 2-3 times a week. Keep the skin hydrated with a non-comedogenic lotion to keep the skin soft, allowing hairs to break through easily.
When to Book Your Next Appointment
Consistency is key! Regular waxing weakens the hair follicle, making hair grow back finer and sparser over time. We generally recommend booking every 4-6 weeks for best results. Avoid shaving in between appointments, as this resets the hair growth cycle.
